Cinematic Zoom meetings

• Feedback for others when presenting. Reaction shots; Screen capture of you talking notes;

Setup:

Connect professional camera(s) to a laptop.

Example setup: Lumix GX80 and a Camlink capture card.

Start recording from camera to turn on auto-focus, color balance, and motion stabilizers;

Connect an external audio recorder to the speaker.

Wifi

• Ideas:

  • Entertaining formats and funny sketches like in Monty Python and NTNON;

  • Science talk shows;

  • Use music and comedy to 𓋴𓃀𓇼𓏜 efficiently;

  • Big Ben-like opening like in old English news;

  • Videos of colleagues explaining their work as field reports;

  • Add logo of show to top corner;

• Things you can put in a scene:

  • Image;

  • Local video;

  • YouTube video;

  • Screen capture, e.g. VS Code window or browser.

• Prepare scene sequence beforehand; Record rehearsals; Soundtrack;

• Portable set-up: Laptop in backpack, connected to wifi for internet, connected to camera via capture card, connected to audio recorder and microphone, OBS and Zoom running. Phone connected to Zoom call with dummy account for feedback. External keypad/keyboard to switch scenes.

  • Can do The Office-like shots this way.

• Hotkeys for a smooth OBS broadcast:

  • Hotkey to switch to scene for when someone in the call asks a questions.

  • Hotkey to scene with zoomed in camera view.

  • Hotkey for sound effects. May be hotkey for camera view with sound effect.

  • Hotkey to play canned laughter.

• Practice broadcasting skills in online Meetups.

• Sequences:

  • YouTube video; Webcam; Screen capture;

  • Normal video; Video with crop filter; Back to normal;

  • Look at webcam to say something; Look at Lumix to say something.
